El Amaranto se considera un pseudocereal, debido a que posee propiedades semilares a la de un cereal, pero no lo es.<\/p>\n
Es un cultivo anual, que se caracteriza por necesitar muy poca agua, por lo que su siembra es ideal para zonas mas \u00e1ridas. La planta es alta, puede llegar a crecer de 0,5 a 3 metros aproximadamente, tiene abundantes hojas gruesas y brillantes y un ramillete de espigas de donde se obtiene el grano.<\/p>\n
Tiene un ciclo promedio de 180 d\u00edas.<\/p>\n
La siembra, se puede hacer directa o en alm\u00e1cigo y debe ser plantado a sol directo.<\/p>\n
En cuanto al rendimiento de la semilla, con 1 kilo se pueden sembrar 3 hect\u00e1reas, es decir, se necesita un aproximado de 55 semillas\/mt2.<\/p>\n
Es rico en vitaminas, minerales, es bajo en grasas y contiene prote\u00edna, por lo que es un alimento muy consumido por deportistas.<\/p>\n
El grano se puede almacenar de 5 a 7 a\u00f1os y conserva su valor nutricional.<\/p>\n
